MSVSport Midweek Cricket League

Mohammed Malik even after all these years have passed since his life ended in the car crash that shocked his friends and family, is still remembered by all who knew him.

Should Malik come up to you and say hello and shake your hand, he made you feel at ease and that he knew you for a long time, that was the kind of unique person he was.

His qualities were simple, kind, loving always spoke his mind and not to forget his  huge passion for cricket. It was particularly local cricket that made Malik such a popular person in the community. He appreciated good standard players and liked to look out for and encourage the youth in the in the area to progress in the game he loved.

An injury to his leg unfortunately limited his own capacity as cricketer however the team he was involved in Park Lane, later to be known as A1 Taxis were always grateful for his services as a super sub in the field whilst they were a player short in any period of the game. He had one of the best throws around, there was a number of times when he was filling in as a sub fielder the opposition would underrate his ability and would take on his arm with regret as the ball was whipped in with great accuracy.

The Mid Week League gave Malik the ideal opportunity to play with and against quality cricketers.  He was always involved in developing his team and promoting the Mid-week League wherever he played. The league became a personal attachment of his life and to lift some silverware was always on the agenda

A lot of people are grateful for his contribution to get them involved with cricket, and introduced to the Mid-week League. To honour him with the game he loved along with the league he supported we have set-up a cup competition named (MALIK TROPHY) after the great ambassador of local cricket in Middlesbrough
